Developing Speech Applications – Nuance OpenSpeech Recognizer & Nuance 8.x Speech Forms
Audience
This course is intended for experienced InVision programmers responsible for creating and supporting Intervoice speech applications using InVision Studio. This course is not vendor-specific and applies to both Nuance 8.x and Nuance OSR 1.0/3.0 speech recognition systems, with InterSoft 3.3 Runtime or later.
Description
This four-day course is intended for programmers responsible for implementing InVision Studio speech recognition applications. The class will complete a speech recognition application as a group and then each student will complete an individual application from a completed design. The course material covers speech application structure, single- and multi-item collection, speech error processing, GRXML grammar creation, list processing, and on-the-fly grammars.
Prerequisites

Completion of the InVision Fundamentals or equivalent programming experience.

It is recommended that students involved with speech recognition complete the Voice User Interface Design course

Objectives

Explain speech recognition terminology.

Explain modular call flow design.

Discuss programming of speech universals and shortcuts.

Implement single item collection with the Speech item form.

Describe default and inline error processing for the speech forms.

Discuss the usage of built-in and custom grammars.

Implement multiple-item collection with the Speech Multi form.

Create .grxml format grammars.

Discuss list processing using speech forms.

Create an on-the-fly grammar for use within a speech form.
